Hi! I'm Avery Jensen

I'm a professional book editor, multi-genre author, and the founder of Ink & Insights — an editorial services studio built on the belief that every serious author deserves access to quality editing, regardless of budget.

I'm African, I speak four languages, and I've spent my life moving between worlds — which means I bring a genuinely global perspective to every manuscript I touch. I understand that stories don't belong to one culture, one voice, or one way of seeing the world. And I think that makes me a better editor.

I'm also a writer myself. I'm a published poet — my debut collection Laconic was award-nominated — and I'm currently writing a fantasy novel and a historical romance. I know what it feels like to pour your entire soul into a manuscript and then hand it to someone else. That's why I treat every project like it matters. Because it does.

I'm an October Libra ♎, which means I will genuinely agonize over every word choice until it's perfectly balanced. Your manuscript couldn't be in better hands.

I understand that hiring an editor is a significant investment — both financially and emotionally. You're trusting someone with your creative work, and I never take that lightly. That's why I offer free sample edits and flexible payment plans up to 12 months, because professional editing should be within reach for every author with a story worth telling.

When I'm not editing or writing, you'll find me at the piano 🎹, eating sushi for the third time this week 🍣, deep in an indie or 80s playlist, or working through my German flashcards (C1, don't test me 🇩🇪). I also have an opinion about every book I've ever read and I will share it unprompted.
